DENTAL VUE at 1447 Lee Street, Des Plaines, Illinois.

Ripoff: After verifying that they do accept my insurance and making an appointment I found the office located in a small strip mall. The office was decorated a bit ritzy with natural stone as a foundational element for their entire office starting with the semicircle check-in desk complete with a Movado brand name wall clock. The people in the waiting area appeared as though they could have been mostly on public aid; The 4 girls at the massive granite-top countered desk didn't seem to have too much going on and mostly just gossiped about stuff in their personal lives. They appeared to be around the ages of 20 and seemed nice buy snarky. At about 10 min in, a tech came out to take a multitude of xrays that seemed mostly redundant to me and I have never had this many xrays taken of my mouth before and I wasn't real thrilled with the amount of what I felt was unnecessary radiation that they were putting me through. The only assurance I got was not to worry because the insurance would cover it all and its only equivalent to an hour in the sun (not true btw). Long story short, when I did get to be seen by dentist Omar (dark hair, super soft spoken mumbler) who asked me more than once if I was there about any pain or problems to which I reminded him that I was only there for routine care. He just kinda looked around in my mouth, careful not to touch me with the tool in his hand and said that I needed a deep cleaning and that I was lucky that I didn't have any cavities and it was lucky for me because I hadn't been to a dentist in over two years and that was it. My "records" were going to be sent to the insurance for a pre-authorization for a deep cleaning and he was gone. The only people I had left to talk to were the girls at the front desk so, I asked them about the pre-authorization and they told me that it would only take a few weeks to hear back from the insurance and if it were to be denied, they did not do appeals; When the day did come to hear back from the insurance they told me it was denied which is exactly what I had been expecting from a practice that sent in xrays of the bone of my teeth and nothing about the flesh of my gums that I could tell. Then she told me that it would cost $780 and, no this does not cover any taxes or fees. When I tried to point out that they should appeal it because the records did not include anything aside from xrays she kept talking over me in what seemed like an attempt to intimidate me and when I tried to explain what I was talking about to her she quickly started giving me her attitude and told me that She did not have to take this from me and hung up; What an ordeal. After all of this I just really feel so very let down because these people didn't do anything for me that my bathroom mirror already does except, for the attempted extortion after they already probably collected to the max from my insurance seeing as to how they have 3 fancy xray machines that they needed me to be a part of. I just feel bad for the people that do get extorted out of nearly $1,000 that they don't have for a cleaning that's probably going to be done at the quality of my initial appointment for a basic cleaning.
